McAlester has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Glenpool Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, McAlester was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 27-22 to Sapulpa.
Despite their loss, McAlester saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Caden Lesnau, who rushed for 117 yards, and also threw for 78 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Ethan Watkins also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Glenpool never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against East Central last Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-15 win over the Cardinals on the road.
Sapulpa's victory bumped their season record to 6-3 while McAlester's defeat dropped theirs to 5-4.
Everything came up roses for McAlester against Glenpool in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 44-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for McAlester since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
