La Marque and the Blackcats are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The La Marque Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Bay City Blackcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Marque is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
On Friday, La Marque was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-36 to the Bulldogs. La Marque has struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Bay City ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Sweeny 45-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bay City.
Khylee Perry continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Madison Thrift, who scored ten points along with six steals.
La Marque's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-19. As for Bay City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-15 record this season.
Things could have been worse for La Marque, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-39 loss to the Blackcats when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Perry, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds.
