Artesia extended the longest winning streak in 4A District 4 this week by beating Carlsbad, 44-41. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Goddard took down Hobbs 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Artesia's dynamic duo of Trevor Eulenbach and Miguel Rodriguez proved tough for the Cavemen to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Eulenbach threw for 454 yards and six touchdowns and Rodriguez had 204 yards receiving. Zane Pittam helped Artesia's passing attack out by catching three balls for 80 yards.
David Nunez was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 89 yards as Roswell topped Carlsbad. Stephen Lucero also contributed to the rushing game with 51 yards on the ground.
6-foot-0 quarterback Eulenbach of the Bulldogs is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1132. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. On the ground, the Coyotes' Nunez has rushed for 460 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Joseph Lovato. The Roswell star has 18 catches for 425 yards.
Artesia and Ron Arrington's team played the most hotly contested game in 4A District 4 this week, with Artesia eventually emerging with a 44-41 victory. Eulenbach ran for 39 yards in the win.
