The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rio Linda, who defeated 119th ranked Casa Roble, 35-21. Marcel Brown ran for 213 yards in the win.
Stephen Andrews and Keenan Hunt provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Rams. The connection went for 78 yards, the longest such play in Capital Valley Conference this season.
Brown was a force in the backfield as the Knights bested Casa Roble.
Chris Guillen threw for 222 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 19-26 with 0 interceptions.
Brown was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 213 yards as Rio Linda defeated Bella Vista. Leonard Skattebo also contributed to the rushing game with 66 yards on the ground.
6-foot-0 quarterback Peyton Wilfley of Norm Ryan's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2,065. He has also thrown 23 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Holmes. The Oakmont star has 45 catches for 663 yards.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Vikings' Holmes goes up against Michael Morris' team's Zak Burden.
Brown of the the Knights is only 52 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 110 carries Brown has put up 948 yards this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Christian Brothers takes on the Rams. As it stands, the Falcons are in third, while Casa Roble is in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Christian Brothers and the Rams face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, George Petrissans' team comes in having scored 274 this season, while Casa Roble has scored 316. The Falcons scored 38 points last week as they bested Del Campo.
Christian Brothers moved up to 272 from 307 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Capital Valley Conference. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Cougars 38-36.
