Independence scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Ardrey Kell, 35-7. At the time, the Knights was ranked 18th in the state, while the Patriots was 50th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Independence, who took down 18th ranked Ardrey Kell, 35-7. Jason Connella threw for 134 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 31 yards in the win.
Isiah Robinson was the most productive running back in 4A Southwestern this week. He ran for 231 yards on 23 carries as Bill Geiler's team lost to Butler.
Harris was the best wideout in the league this week as the Ravens lost to the Bulldogs. Harris tallied five receptions for 65 yards. Devryn Galloway helped Rocky River's passing attack out by catching two balls for 26 yards.
Independence's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Connella has thrown for 930 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Dequan Barnes has 26 catches for 453 yards. Robinson leads the league in rushing with 796 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Southwestern this week will be when Myers Park takes on Adam Hastings 's team. The Mustangs are in fifth place, while the Knights are in third place.
Butler extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rocky River, 40-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for Brian Hales's team.
