Oakes' rough 46-24 defeat to Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier might stick with them for a while. Oakes has not had much luck with Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Lily Thorpe and Brianna Schmitz certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Thorpe scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals, while Schmitz scored 8 points. Schmitz scored a full 33.3% of Oakes' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Oakes' loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Oakes will be playing in front of their home fans against Griggs County Central/Midkota at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier, they will head out on the road to face off against Washburn at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
