Southern Columbia Area has won five straight games at home, while Danville has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Tigers will host the Ironmen at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Southern Columbia Area 3.8, Danville 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Southern Columbia Area's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Mifflinburg by a score of 5-0.
Not much got past Levi Everitt, who gave up just three hits to keep Mifflinburg off the board. Everitt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Southern Columbia Area's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Yost, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Andrew Novak, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Danville let Lewisburg stack four runs on them in the first inning on Wednesday but luckily Danville prevailed anyway. The Ironmen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Green Dragons. The Ironmen haven't had any issues with the Green Dragons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Garrett Hoffman made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hoffman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Acor, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Carter Raup was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Southern Columbia Area has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Danville, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
Southern Columbia Area's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Danville, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Southern Columbia Area continue to outrun the ball?
