The Gateway Eagles came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They pulled ahead with a 56-55 photo finish over Lehigh. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Tavian Cook continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Christopher Davis was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Gateway's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. As for Lehigh, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.
Gateway will be playing at home against East Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Lee County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 486th, while Gateway is ranked 115th). As for Lehigh, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
