The Leesburg Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to face off against the Real Life Christian Academy Raptors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Leesburg is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Windermere Prep hit Leesburg with a five-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellow Jackets took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakers.
Rachel Chiles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Hailey Toothaker was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Addison Hunter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Real Life Christian Academy and Legacy Charter have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Raptors had just enough and edged out the Eagles 9-8. The Raptors haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Daniella Delgadillo made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Shawn Ramsey was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Rylee Lyon, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Real Life Christian Academy pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.4 runs. As for Leesburg, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Leesburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Real Life Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Leesburg's way against Real Life Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Leesburg made off with a 22-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellow Jackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
