After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grandview, Lorena was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Godley Wildcats. With that victory, the Leopards brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Gabby Gomez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off 11 hits. Gomez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Brooklynn Rodriguez and Isabella Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Davis went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That triple marked the first that Rodriguez hit this season. Another player making a difference was Abby Generals, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Lorena lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Lorena's record now sits at 10-4. As for Godley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6.

Lorena and Godley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Lorena will challenge La Vega at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 880 places (93 vs. 973). Meanwhile, Godley (ranked 193rd) will meet Kennedale (ranked 828th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
