The Westside Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the South Pointe Stallions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Westside sitting on nine straight wins and South Pointe on 12.
Westside is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They skirted past Camden 24-21. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since August 24, 2024.

Keylan Powell produced another solid performance rushing for 235 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He has become a key player for Westside: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Westside was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, South Pointe faced A.C. Flora in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Stallions blew past the Falcons 56-14. The result was nothing new for the Stallions, who have now won ten contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
South Pointe's win came from a few key players Westside will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was R.J. Brown, who rushed for 59 yards and two TDs on only six carries. South Pointe also got help from Dailan Duncan, who showed off his sure hands for 103 receiving yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to South Pointe's defense and their ten sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Seth Tillman and Brysen Ginn, who racked up 5.5 sacks between them. Ginn has been hot recently, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Another thorn in A.C. Flora's side was Kj Burg, who made 11 total tackles (4.0 for loss).
South Pointe's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Westside, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Westside has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 183.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Pointe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 239.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Westside took their win against South Pointe when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 35-14 score. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Stallions' Mason Pickett-Hicks, who rushed for 239 yards and one score while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also caught one touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Rams to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
