The DeLaSalle Islanders will face off against the Kennedy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
DeLaSalle was handed a 11-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 victory over Washburn. Considering the Islanders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The team relied heavily on Elina Ditty, who scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Amy Kaisaki was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
DeLaSalle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Kennedy strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let St. Anthony Village get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Give the Eagles' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Noelia Fierro made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Emily Spencer was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma Skibbie, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Kennedy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average this season. As for DeLaSalle, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.
DeLaSalle took their win against Kennedy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Do the Islanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
