The Burbank Bulldogs stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Edison as Burbank made off with a 53-27 win. Given Burbank's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while Edison is ranked 1000th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burbank's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia De la cruz led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 26 rebounds. De la cruz has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Carter, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Burbank is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. As for Edison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-18.
Burbank will look to defend their home court on Friday against Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. Jefferson is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses. As for Edison, they will head out on the road to face off against Alamo Heights at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Alamo Heights and Edison are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
