The Crisp County Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. Their rough 61-40 loss to Thomasville might stick with them for a while. Crisp County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Thomasville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played two weeks ago.
Despite the loss, Crisp County still got an impressive performance from Zakariyya Dwight, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 62.5% of Crisp County's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chad Dawson, who scored three points along with two steals.
Xavier Burkes jr. was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with five steals for Thomasville. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burkes jr. has scored all season. Nigel Pittman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Crisp County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Thomasville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-17.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crisp County will face off against Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crisp County is coming into the contest with six straight losses on the road, meaning Columbus will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Thomasville, they will take on Carver at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomasville is coming into the game with five straight wins on the road, so Carver is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
