Reading hasn't had much luck against Exeter Township recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Red KNights will square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Reading will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Muhlenberg, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Red KNights came out on top against the Muhls by a score of 7-4 on Monday.
David Garcia tossed a big game, pitching 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Janser Paredes was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Samir Diaz Batista also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Exeter Township hadn't done well against Governor Mifflin recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Eagles never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. That 11-run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.
Jake Hafer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Woram, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jake Franek was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Exeter Township was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The win got Reading back to even at 2-2. As for Exeter Township, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Reading has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Exeter Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Reading might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Exeter Township in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Red KNights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
