Basketball Game Preview: Rocky River Ravens vs. East Mecklenburg Eagles

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Rocky River Ravens duke it out with the East Mecklenburg Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday... Rocky River has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Rocky River is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Garinger 79-41 on Friday. With that victory, the Ravens brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.

Rocky River's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jade Bell, who went 8 for 19 en route to 25 points along with six steals and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Bell is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Lundyn Spears, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 18 points and seven steals.

Rocky River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, East Mecklenburg came up short against Providence on Friday and fell 52-43. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Rocky River will need focus on slowing down Kameyah Brown, one of several East Mecklenburg players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points in addition to ten boards and five steals. Another player making a difference was Samariah Freeman, who put up nine points.

East Mecklenburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Rocky River, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Rocky River didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against East Mecklenburg when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 45-39 win. Will Rocky River repeat their success, or does East Mecklenburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
