The Pomona Red Devils will square off against the El Dorado Golden Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Whittier scored an imposing 70 points on Thursday, Pomona still came out on top. Pomona managed a 74-70 victory over Whittier. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Pomona.
Meanwhile, El Dorado had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 59-17 win over Santa Fe. Given El Dorado's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Santa Fe is ranked 679th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
El Dorado's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Andrew Salvador led the charge by scoring 14 points along with 3 steals. The match was Salvador's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Meek, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Pomona's win lifted them to 3-4 while Whittier's loss dropped them down to 2-5.
Pomona was dealt a bruising 66-35 loss at the hands of El Dorado in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Pomona, Cooper Bladow (who scored 17 points along with 7 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
