The Lowell Catholic Crusaders had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Greater Lowell Tech 53-50. This was payback for Lowell Catholic, who suffered a 52-27 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Lowell Catholic found their leader in underclassman Janae Holmes, who went 6 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 2 assists. Makayla Alexander was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds.
The victory got Lowell Catholic back to even at 1-1. As for Greater Lowell Tech, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lowell Catholic will be home for the holidays to greet Academy of Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Greater Lowell Tech will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northeast Metro RVT at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
