Softball Recap: Bishop Diego Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Bishop Diego put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Santa Barbara Dons. For the Cardinals, this counts as revenge for the 11-1 victory the Dons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Tara Gregson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gregson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Gregson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaymi Coronado, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Bishop Diego's record is now 3-0. As for Santa Barbara, they dropped their record down to 2-2 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals challenge the Lions at 3:30 p.m. on March 4th. As for Santa Barbara, they will be playing at home against Foothill Tech at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Barbara is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
