The Goodland Cowboys won the last time they faced the Wray Eagles, and things went their way on Thursday too. Goodland blew past Wray 75-44 at home. Given Goodland's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked first in Kansas, while Wray is ranked 191st in Colorado), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Defeat or not, Wray got some senior leadership from AB Ruiz who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and Rafael Trejo who scored 13 points.
Goodland pushed their record up to 2-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Wray, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Goodland won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Norton. Hopefully Norton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday. Wray won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Burlington at 8:00 p.m. on December 8th. Burlington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Wray likes a good challenge.
