The Aquinas Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 55-34 defeat at the hands of John F. Kennedy Catholic. Aquinas has not had much luck with John F. Kennedy Catholic recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Aquinas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Paris Everett. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Everett is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Janya Jeter, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Even though they lost, Aquinas were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John F. Kennedy Catholic only pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.
Ava Darney was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds for John F. Kennedy Catholic. Darney hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Marina Sanders was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds.
Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for John F. Kennedy Catholic, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquinas will face off against Barberton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for John F. Kennedy Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Canton Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
