Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Marmion's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Marmion had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Wheaton North on Saturday. The Cadets blew past the Falcons 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Cadets, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Nate Bostrand tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

At the plate, Matthew Tulley was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Trajan Storto-Featherson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Marmion was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Marmion has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-12-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Wheaton North, they dropped their record down to 15-18-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Marmion will take on Montini Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wheaton North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
