Hadley Luzerne is on a four-game streak of home losses, Fort Ann a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Hadley Luzerne Eagles will take on the Fort Ann Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Monday, Hadley Luzerne had to suffer through a rough 74-47 loss at the hands of Duanesburg. While losing is never fun, Hadley Luzerne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 712th, while Duanesburg is ranked 178th).
Meanwhile, Fort Ann scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They skirted past Varsity Opponent 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Fort Ann relied on the efforts of Kadynce Cutter, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds, and Javier Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hernandez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Garrett Brown, who scored eight points along with six assists and three steals.
Hadley Luzerne has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Fort Ann, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13.
Hadley Luzerne strolled past Fort Ann in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 49-32. Does Hadley Luzerne have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fort Ann turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
