Issaquah is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will challenge the Bothell Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, everything went Issaquah's way against Everett as Issaquah made off with a 12-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Shae Erickson (2027) made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Erickson (2027) was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Baumann (2026), who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Abby Cleveland (2026) was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Issaquah always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bothell). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lake Washington 9-7.
Avery Jensen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hadley Smith, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Issaquah's record is now 2-0. As for Bothell, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
Everything went Issaquah's way against Bothell in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Issaquah made off with an 11-2 victory. Does Issaquah have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bothell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
