After a string of five wins, the Uxbridge Spartans's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a hard 61-45 fall against Prouty. The game was a 31-31 toss-up at halftime, but Uxbridge was outscored by Prouty in the second.
When it comes to explaining why Uxbridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Mccusker. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Lachapelle, who scored eight points.
Uxbridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Prouty, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Uxbridge will take on Southbridge at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Southbridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Uxbridge is ranked 25th). As for Prouty, they will be playing at home against Quaboag Regional at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
