Basketball Recap: Syracuse Takes a Loss

Syracuse was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against the Davis Darts, falling 92-44. The matchup marked the Titans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Syracuse's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Burke Rountree, who went 6 for 7 en route to 12 points. The dominant performance gave Rountree a new career-high in points. Bracken Lessey also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Coleman Atwater continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Davis, going 9 of 14 to rack up 26 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Atwater now owns an excellent 40.6% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was JT Turley, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Syracuse's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Davis, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Syracuse will face off against Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Davis, they will square off against Farmington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Farmington has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Davis will come in with six straight wins.
