The Chaparral Wolverines will venture away from home to challenge the Fairview Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaparral will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Chaparral's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Ponderosa 2-0. That's two games straight that the Wolverines have won by exactly two runs.
Jake Barrows tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
At the plate, Owen Perlet was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairview). They came out on top against Niwot by a score of 14-9 on Thursday. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Oliver Peterson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fairview is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Fairview got a big performance out of Jackson Wier, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Wier has become a key player for the Knights: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Cooper Neumann was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Fairview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Fairview is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Chaparral, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
