West Greene has gone a perfect 10-0 against Avella recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Pioneers will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. West Greene is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
West Greene took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Avonworth, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Pioneers skirted past the Antelopes 4-3. The four-run effort marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Payton Gilbert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmaline Beazell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kylee Davis was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Avella). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Fort Cherry a 20-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.
Like West Greene, Avella also got a great game from a two-way player: Avrey Rado. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Rado was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Serenity Bradbury and Sydney Strope did most of the damage at the plate: Bradbury scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Strope went 2-for-4 with four runs and four RBI. Bradbury also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emily Buel, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Avella always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .675. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
West Greene's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Avella, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.
Avella's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Greene has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Avella, though, as they've been averaging 12.8 hits. Given West Greene's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
West Greene took their win against Avella when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
