The River City Raiders's six-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past McClatchy 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
River City was led to victory by Tomas Montoya and Diego Villanueva. Montoya scored 13 points, while Villanueva scored 13 points. Jordan Tran was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Despite the loss, McClatchy still got an impressive performance from Kendall Andrews, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Seyford, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
River City's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-12. As for McClatchy, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-16.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Monterey Trail the next time they take the court. River City will head out to face Monterey Trail at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while McClatchy will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
