The Lake View Wildcats meant business on Monday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Cougars squad that has allowed just 27.17 points per contest. Lake View enjoyed a cozy 55-37 win over Chicago Academy. Winning may never get old, but Lake View sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Leading Lake View to victory were Jada Marrero and Imariz Duran. Marrero scored 18 points, while Duran scored 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Duran has scored at least a third of Lake View's points.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ariana Avila, who scored three points along with ten rebounds and five steals. Avila has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Destiny Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Lake View's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. As for Chicago Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake View won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against North Grand at 5:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully North Grand focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 back in December of 2023. As for Chicago Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Steinmetz College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Steinmetz College Prep is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
