New Smyrna Beach is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over Taylor on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Barracudas with their most commanding win of the season.
The team relied heavily on Landon McLain, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jayden Calamonico, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
New Smyrna Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Father Lopez on Thursday and fell 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.
Richaun Amaro and Caden McManama did some serious damage despite the final result: Amaro scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while McManama went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. That's the most runs Amaro has posted since back in April of 2024. Reilley Oglageo was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Trinity Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for New Smyrna Beach, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. New Smyrna Beach has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Trinity Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
