Pennington is 9-1 against Cleveland since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tigers will welcome the Panthers at 1:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pennington let Vinemont stack six runs on them in the third inning on Tuesday but luckily Pennington prevailed anyway. The Tigers walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Connor Timmerman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Timmerman was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gibson Posey was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Eli Butler was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Pennington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vinemont only managed seven.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cleveland). They were the clear victors by a 16-7 margin over West End on Thursday. The Panthers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3, 2025 (when they won 10-1).
Like Pennington, Cleveland also got a great game from a two-way player: Cohen Dawson. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Dawson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Kasen Jones and Erick Cervantes did most of the damage at the plate: Jones got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two RBI, while Cervantes got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Levi McDowell, who went 1-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Cleveland's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Pennington, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Pennington got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Cleveland by a conclusive 10-3 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
