Sumner is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Robinson is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Sumner Stingrays will take on the Robinson Knights at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumner knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Robinson likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Sumner earned a 64-53 win over Bloomingdale.
Jacob Douglas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with nine assists and five steals. That's the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Williams, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, even though Jefferson scored an imposing 70 points on Wednesday, Robinson still came out on top. Robinson managed a 75-70 win over Jefferson.
It was another big night for Jordan Mickens, who scored 35 points along with seven assists and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Russell, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Sumner has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Robinson, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Tuesday's match will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Douglas and Mickens. Douglas has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 13.3 points, 2.6 steals, and 4.1 assists. For his part, Mickens has averaged 17.3 points, 2.3 steals, and 8.1 assists.
Sumner beat Robinson 68-59 in their previous meeting back in January of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Robinson's Myron Thomas, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Sumner to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
