Seneca Valley and Hempfield Area are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are still undefeated (Seneca Valley has ten wins , while Hempfield Area has 11 dating back to last season).

Abby Kalkowski made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That run marked the first that she scored this season.
In other batting news, Livi Cochran was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and five RBI. Neve Miller also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Hempfield Area made easy work of North Allegheny on Monday and carried off a 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Like Seneca Valley, Hempfield Area also got a great game from a two-way player: Riley Miller. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Howard, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in triples (two). Claire Mitchell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Hempfield Area's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.8 runs this season. As for Seneca Valley, their record now sits at 10-0.
Seneca Valley might still be hurting after the 15-2 defeat they got from Hempfield Area when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
