Basketball Recap: Southern Alamance Comes Up Short

Southern Alamance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Union Pines Vikings, falling 87-47. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2018.

Despite the loss, Southern Alamance still got an impressive performance from Riley Warren, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Warren is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Drayden Brewer was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Jaylen Kyle continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Union Pines, posting 13 points along with eight assists and eight boards. Those eight assists gave Kyle a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Omari Walker, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Southern Alamance's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Union Pines, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Southern Alamance will venture away from home to challenge Williams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Williams is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. As for Union Pines, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m. on December 26th. One thing working in Union Pines' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
