Even though the Rustburg Red Devils have not done well against the Brookville Bees recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Rustburg sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-37 victory over Brookville. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rustburg.
Rustburg's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madi Crews, who scored 10 points. Haven Grinstead was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Rustburg's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Brookville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-1.
Rustburg will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson Forest has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Brookville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty and Brookville are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
