Douglas County West has not had much luck with Yutan recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Douglas County West's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bella Zach, who scored nine points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Addison Strong, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Leading Yutan to victory were Jade Lewis and Maura Tichota. Lewis scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Tichota dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Tichota, who scored ten points along with six assists.
Douglas County West's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Yutan, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Douglas County West won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Boys Town at 4:30 p.m. on January 19th. Boys Town will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Douglas County West is ranked 120th). As for Yutan, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder at 6:00 p.m.
