Make it 14 blowout wins for the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders this season. They blew past Northview Academy 84-55 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Gatlinburg-Pittman sure is getting used to it with their 12th in a row.
Maddy Newman was her usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with five assists and two blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nya Burns, who scored 15 points along with five steals.
Gatlinburg-Pittman is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. As for Northview Academy, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gatlinburg-Pittman will take on Austin-East at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Austin-East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Gatlinburg-Pittman is ranked fifth). As for Northview Academy, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Fulton at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th.
