Basketball Recap: AMARE WALKER Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mount Dora

Tavares hadn't done well against Mount Dora recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Tavares Bulldogs came out on top against the Mount Dora Hurricanes by a score of 58-46. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 49-37 back in November of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tavares to victory, but perhaps none more so than AMARE WALKER, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points. WALKER is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. LANDON SAMUEL was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 14 points.

Mount Dora's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was D'Micah Lowman, who posted nine points. The dominant performance also gave Lowman a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Daqavious Taylor, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals.

Tavares is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Mount Dora, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

Tavares wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-28 win against University on the 21st. As for Mount Dora, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-58 loss against Freedom on the 21st.
