McCallie has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Red Bank Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though McCallie has not done well against Knoxville Catholic recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. McCallie narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Knoxville Catholic 61-58.
McCallie got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenneth Chime out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Chime hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Kaleb Gallman was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Red Bank had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They walked away with a 73-63 victory over East Ridge. Given Red Bank's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while East Ridge is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McCallie's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Red Bank, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for McCallie against Red Bank in their previous matchup back in December of 2015 as the team secured a 91-43 victory. With McCallie ahead 56-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.
