Madison Christian's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Northside Christian Lions with a sharp 16-6 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Lexi Miles was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Miles was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Madison Christian got a massive performance out of Lily Scholz, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Lilianna Dennis also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Madison Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northside Christian only posted an OBP of .440.
Madison Christian's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Northside Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison Christian will venture away from home to challenge Shekinah Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Flames at the right time seeing as the Flames are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Northside Christian, they are taking a road trip to face off against Genoa Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
