The Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars waltzed into their game on Saturday with four straight wins but they left with five. They secured a 54-49 W over Immaculate. 54 seems to be a good number for Kolbe-Cathedral as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Kolbe-Cathedral got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rachel Cherrington out in front who scored 13 points along with seven assists. Another player making a difference was Amia Campbell, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Immaculate's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendra Foy, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Callie Miller was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Kolbe-Cathedral has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Immaculate, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7.
Kolbe-Cathedral will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pomperaug is on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Cougars a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Immaculate will take on the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Brookfield is ranked 47th, while the Mustangs are ranked 38th).
