Benson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 46 points or more this season. They breezed by San Miguel on the road to the tune of 80-5. Given Benson's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while San Miguel is ranked 213th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jamey Darwin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Benson's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylei Taylor, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds.
Camp Verde's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Santa Rita's defeat dropped theirs to 0-7.
Santa Rita took a serious blow against Benson in their previous meeting back in February, falling 68-13. Thankfully for Santa Rita, Ally Crouse (who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 20 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
