Bishop McCort and Westmont Hilltop are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Crushers will welcome the Hilltoppers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Bishop McCort nor Westmont Hilltop posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.
Bishop McCort fell victim to Tyrone and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Golden Eagles, falling 11-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Crushers have suffered since May 20, 2024.
Meanwhile, Westmont Hilltop waltzed into their matchup on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Hilltoppers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The result came thanks to Addy Dunbar's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bella Kist, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Bishop McCort now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Westmont Hilltop, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Bishop McCort hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Westmont Hilltop struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Bishop McCort was able to grind out a solid win over Westmont Hilltop when the teams last played on April 12th, winning 11-8. Will the Crushers repeat their success, or do the Hilltoppers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
