Softball Recap: Mingus' Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mohave, Mingus was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Shadow Mountain Matadors by a score of 13-10. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Marauders as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Daizy Mejia was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Hernandez, who scored three runs and stole a base.

Mingus' victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Shadow Mountain, they dropped their record down to 7-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Mingus will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Prescott at 5:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Shadow Mountain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Moon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.36 runs per game on average), something the Matadors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
