Wheeler is a perfect 10-0 against Grasso Tech since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Lions will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Grasso Tech took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Wheeler, who comes in off a win.
Wheeler's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Plainfield as they made off with a 6-0 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

James Main was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 18 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Korbin Anderson was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Mason Perkins, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Grasso Tech fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Norwich RVT on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 6-5. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Wheeler, Grasso Tech also got a great game from a two-way player: PJ Evans. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Evans has allowed since back in April. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Evans wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reis Whitfield, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Wheeler is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Grasso Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Wheeler was able to grind out a solid win over Grasso Tech in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, winning 5-0. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
