St. John is 0-10 against Cross since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The St. John's Islanders will look to defend their home court against the Cross Trojans at 6:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Daeshia Buford and Lauren Middleton.
After a string of three wins, St. John's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were dealt a 93-29 loss at the hands of Military Magnet Academy. St. John's was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-18.
Meanwhile, Cross scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Charleston Math & Science for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-14 win at home. Cross has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Middleton, who scored 21 points along with six steals and five assists. Another player making a difference was Zhania Fredricks, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals.
St. John's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Cross, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
