The Morgan Huskies pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of North Branford by a score of 37-34. Morgan lost against North Branford in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 55-14 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Morgan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jack Nye. Despite the final result, he picked up 196 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Nye was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Powell, who threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns.
AJ Sigel was on fire for North Branford: he rushed for 312 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 14.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 43 yards and a touchdown. Tommy Hansen was another key contributor, gaining 114 total yards and a touchdown.
Morgan's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for North Branford, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Morgan will head out on the road to face off against Valley Regional/Old Lyme at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Branford, they will be playing at home against Cromwell/Portland at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
