The Trezevant Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Melrose Golden Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trezevant has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Trezevant pushed their score all the way to 65 last Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Lakeland Preparatory by a score of 68-65. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (56), Trezevant still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Melrose's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 74-61 to Ridgeway. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Melrose's loss came about despite a quality game from William Carver, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Cooley, who scored seven points.
Trezevant's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Melrose, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6.
Trezevant couldn't quite finish off Melrose when the teams last played back in January of 2022 and fell 52-50. Will Trezevant have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
