The Valley Mills Eagles will challenge the Itasca Wampus Cats at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Valley Mills saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Orangefield by a score of 2-1. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Valley Mills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Wright, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Blayne Griner also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Meanwhile, Itasca's undefeated season came to an end after six games on Monday. They fell just short of Moody by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wampus Cats have suffered since March 8, 2024.

Brayden Mears was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Having lost for the first time this season, Itasca fell to 6-1. As for Valley Mills, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything went Valley Mills' way against Itasca in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Valley Mills made off with a 10-0 win. Does Valley Mills have another victory up their sleeve, or will Itasca turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
